William Lallement continues to work with the military by doing contracted government work and he now serves with the Department of the Army Civilian. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Janice, who has been a constant support system, along with his family, through his years of service. Will and Janice will soon be celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary. Will takes time out of his busy schedule to coach a little league team in his community. He enjoys teaching young athletes how to conduct themselves in a respectful, sportsmen like manner towards their teammates, their competition, and fans. Will also takes pride in being the Chairman of the Memorial Day committee to honor his fellow servicemen and women at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Virginia. He was also once a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and is currently active in American Legions.
When asked about that bullet and how it changed his life, Will said, “Not knowing if I was going to lose my left arm really gave me time to do some serious thinking. I turned to God, giving him thanks for saving not only my arm but also my life. I could have been angry and given up, but I knew God had a bigger reason to keep me around – my 6 precious grandchildren. God gave me a second chance, so that is why I do the volunteer work I do.”
Michael Logan, friend and co-worker, would like to nominate US Army Seargent First Class veteran, William Lallement, as his hero for the service and sacrifices he has made for his country.
“He never seeks attention for what he has done or been through, he just does what he can, and it is a lot. Also, one of the most positive people I know… even after everything he has been through. He takes pride in what he did for his country, and what he is continuing to do for it through his job, and volunteering.” said Michael, “If he were to do it all over again, he wouldn’t change a thing.”
